da Vinci® Hysterectomy for Endometrial Cancer with Staging

With Emphasis on the Para-Aortic Lymphadenectomy to Surgically Stage the Disease

Dr. John Boggess, one of the world’s leading experts in robotics in GYN Oncology, will be performing a da Vinci Hysterectomy for Endometrial Cancer with Staging with emphasis on the Para-Aortic Lymphadenectomy. Dr. Boggess will be using the da Vinci S model, which provides improved range of motion and longer instruments that allow GYN Oncologists to readily access the para-aortic lymph nodes for staging as well as the deep pelvis to perform the hysterectomy and pelvic lymphadenectomy. This webcast will review port placement for staging endometrial cancer using the new da Vinci S System and will also include use of the 4th arm, providing Dr. Boggess with additional grasping & retraction capability, control, and autonomy throughout the procedure.

This webcast will run for approximately 1 hour and will include the opportunity for subscribers to ask questions.

The Next Frontier in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery

The University of Michigan Health System and Intuitive Surgical, Inc. will present a Webcast of a da Vinci Hysterectomy, broadcast live from the University of Michigan Hospital, on September 20, 2006 from 3-4 PM (ET).

The minimally invasive hysterectomy was performed with the assistance of the da Vinci® Surgical System, by Dr. Arnold Advincula, Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery, Division of OB/GYN at The University of Michigan Health System.

Arleen H. Song, M.D., M.P.H., Assistant Professor, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, moderated the Webcast.
